Isomodul fibre board insulation elements are made entirely of wood, feature properties that are necessary not only for ecological buildings: they are open to diffusion while having excellent thermal insulation properties and can be used for balancing the height of or giving weight to ceilings or floors.
Due to the ingeniously simple border profile of the Isomodul fibre board insulation elements, they can be used in a wide range of applications as sound or thermal insulation materials.
This applies to muting footstep noise while making floors, insulating walls, ceilings or roofs, or covering the interiors or exteriors of wooden frames.

Installation of Isomodul

Installation on vertical frame

To attach the insulation elements, use hot-dip galvanized nails (diameter >3.1 mm), staples (length >27 mm, thickness of wire >1.8 mm) or insulation fixings. Attachment devices must enter at least 30 mm into the surface to assure adequate fixing.
The distance between nails and staples must be at least 100 mm, the distance between insulation fixings must be at least 250 mm.
When starting the second row, the overlay of the boards must be at least 300 mm.


Installation on floor

With wooden joists

1)Isomodul is used here as an acoustic and thermal insulation material. Even with thin flooring materials, optimal insulation can be achieved when covering the surface completely. The integrated installation moulding is to be used for fastening underlay, short boards or parquet by nailing.

2) As a general substrate for attaching gypsum boards, gluing flooring materials or installing ceramic tiles.

Whether installed with wooden joists or full cover, Isomodul will ensure a step-proof floor with no sound bridges.

3) When installed with full cover, the Isomodul provides an excellent acoustic and thermal insulation while being a substrate for gluing all sorts of boards, fitted carpets, linoleum, cork parquet etc.

4) Due to Isomodul's great durability, you can install very thin floorings like parquet, cork and linoleum, laminate and other floating floorings directly on them.
The thickness of insulation layer is not limited.

Installation on ceiling

1) Isomodul can be used for the thermal and acoustic insulation of ceilings. At the same time, a fastening frame for backside-ventilated boarding is formed. This form is used for optimal vapour diffusion in case of passages and rooms that have practically no heating.

2) When using Isomodul insulation elements in the ceiling as follows, the integrated installation moulding can achieve a space-saving acoustic and thermal insulation (it is possible to hide the wiring) while using different coating materials (wood, gypsum board etc).

When using the Isomodul as a base construction for fastening building boards at 62.5 cm intervals, a complete insulation will be achieved with no gaps.
The integrated installation mouldings allow for a space-efficient installation of the boards.

If the insulation is installed on the warm side of the ceiling, a vapour barrier must be installed on the Isomodul and installation mouldings.

3) It is very simple and cost-efficient to install the Isomodul on the ceiling and then plaster the ceiling. It is ideal for ceiling board heating with clay plaster.
IMPORTANT! Depending on the construction, the warm side of the Isomodul may need a vapour barrier. Please be sure to meet the respective building-engineering criteria.

Installation on wall

1) Isomodul provides a complete thermal and acoustic insulation, leaving no gaps. Due to the integrated installation moulding, a space-efficient base construction is formed for different wooden wall covering materials.

2) Isomodul can be used in the same way as a base construction for attaching construction boards with 62.5 cm distance. This also creates a space-efficient base construction for gypsum or wooden boards.
When insulating exterior walls from the inside, a vapour barrier film may be installed on the Isomodul and the installation moulding, if necessary.

3) Isomodul that is installed with full cover and have backside ventilation are mainly used as thermal and/or acoustic insulation in cold rooms or outside.

4) With Isomodul, it is possible to attain good thermal and acoustic insulation and a finished surface with one work cycle (the wall can be plastered afterwards). Using clay plaster can provide an excellent room climate. When using the Isomodul insulation elements outdoors (Isomodul +), they can be covered with special plaster as well.
